Can I book two appointments at the same time?

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to book two appointments at the same time. At the time of writing, we only have one floating tank in our premises, and it is made for one person. However, you are very welcome to come two people at the same time, it's fine to hang out in our lobby, have a cup of tea and maybe flip through a newspaper while the other is floating. We are working on our second room, which unfortunately does not hold a tank, and will offer a different type of treatment there.

What do I need to bring to my floating session?

You may want to bring a hair brush and a container for your contact lenses. There is of course water on site, but feel free to bring a water bottle with you to keep yourself hydrated after your floating session. It can also be good to have lotion with you to apply to your face and body afterwards. We take care of the rest! We provide you with a towel, earplugs and a neck pillow. Shower cream, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryer are also available.

How do I prepare for my floating session?

Be here early! 
If it is your first float, we would like to give you an introduction so you are fully prepared.
You will need to shower before you lie down in the tank. Also make sure to take care of your needs beforehand so you don't have to step up (a no brainer maybe but worth mentioning).

Towel, shampoo and hairdryer are on the house. Think about what else you need, swimming cap, water bottle, hair brush, etc.

Otherwise there's really not much. Consider whether you want a guided meditation, calm music or try the tranquility of pure silence. You choose whether you want to turn off the lamp and close the lid. No stress just float!

How often should you float?

How often you should float is individual, but in the same way that you wouldn't go to the gym once and expect results, you get the best effect with regularity. You can float once and feel great afterwards, but to achieve a long-lasting state of mental and physical health, we recommend floating at least once a month. If you are physically active or experience stress, anxiety or pain in muscles and joints, floating therapy once a week is not uncommon.

It usually takes 2-3 floating sessions before you learn to really relax and can get the most out of the time.

When should I not float?

Accepted Answer

You should not lie down in the tank if you feel unwell, have cold symptoms or feel feverish.

You should also not float on your own if you cannot get in and out of the tank without assistance.
If you have a disease where you risk having a seizure, such as epilepsy, we do not recommend floating.

It may also be wise to pass if you have open wounds, as these sting badly in the salt. Smaller wounds, however, tend to heal better with salt due to the antiseptic function. But then you have to be prepared for it to sting. Vasolin is a good tip if you want to protect wounds from the salt!

Question 6

I'm claustrophobic. Is Floating a good idea?

Floating is a good mental exercise, but if you are claustrophobic it can feel tough to settle into the tank.

There is no right or wrong way to float. If you prefer, you can keep the lid open. You can also leave the light on in the tank if that makes it easier.

We also decided to install one of the more spacious tanks on the market. You can calmly stretch out in the water.

If you were to panic there is a button that will alarm the staff to assist you. If you feel uncertain in any way we are happy to guide you before you enter the tank.

Question 7

Should I wear swimwear?

You are absolutely allowed to use swimwear. But it is not a requirement. The door can be locked and the floating room is private during your session. Swimwear can distract you during your experience.

Question 8

Can you float when you are pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Yes! There are many who have tried this. We three dudes who founded Space obviously have zero experience of testing ourselves.

So instead of mansplaining this, we think you should double check with your doctor first before you book. But from what we've heard, it's relaxing and a good way to rest during a stressful time for the body.

Question 9

Is it hygienic to use a floatation tank?

Accepted Answer

The floating tank has an automatic cleaning system that filters the water every 15 minutes using hydrogen peroxide.

The high amount of Epsom salt in the water has an antiseptic effect and protects against bacteria.

In addition to this, we also clean between each customer. We check that the PH value in the water is correct.

Question 10

Is it dehydrating to lie in the water for so long?

Accepted Answer

We speak to you from our own experiences here. All three of us have a long history of skin problems and ezcema.

Epsom salt is no ordinary table salt. It is very mineral rich and actually even moisturizing for your skin. Many people with both psoriasis and eczema experience a clear improvement from the salt we use.

If you have sensitive skin, we recommend that you moisturize after your session. If you have eczema it could get itchy at first but usually it will pass after a few minutes in the pod.

Is it quiet in the tank?

The idea is that you should have your own best experience. We therefore offer both calm music, guided meditation or complete silence, choose for yourself!

Question 12

Can I float during my period?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can. As long as you follow the same routine you would have done in a public pool.

Question 13

Can I wear contact lenses when I float?

Accepted Answer

We recommend that you don't were them while you're in the tank. Make sure to bring a case for them so you can put them aside.

Question 14

Can I float when I have dyed my hair?

Accepted Answer

You can, provided the paint has dried. We recommend that you wait 14 days from dyeing to avoid the risk of the color ending up in the water. If you pollute the water, we might need to drain and replace it and costs will be added (read the booking conditions)

Question 15

Can you drown in the tank?

Accepted Answer

No. You float like a cork. As long as you lie on your back, you will not be able to rotate. You will feel as stable as in your own bed!

Question 16

Can you fall asleep in the tank?

Accepted Answer

Yes! And that's perfectly fine.

And no, you won't drown. The water's high salinity makes it impossible to stop floating. If, against the odds, you managed to turn over in your sleep (a lot of willpower is required and probably help from the side of the tank) you would wake up with burning eyes!

Many people like to fall asleep during the Floating session. We guarantee that you will feel twice as rested as after a normal nap!

Question 17

I have long hair and want to float

Accepted Answer

Great! The salt can give you a cool surfy look. We provide you with shampoo and have a hairdryer for you in the room. However, we would like to warn you that the salt takes a while to wash off. If you are worried about your hair, we recommend that you bring a swimming cap (also available to buy from us). It may also be wise to bring your own brush!

Question 18

Is the premises suitable disability?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately not at the moment. We are working on a solution, but our premises are in an older building and were built before today's disability requirements were taken into account.

Question 19

How do you handle Covid 19?

Accepted Answer

We follow the guidelines that apply and since 9 February 2022 there are no special recommendations. Of course, the focus is on good hygiene and hand sanitizer is available in the venue.
